Advanced Robotics and Technology (ART) Research Lab

The Advanced Robotics and Technology (ART) Research Lab at Bowling Green State University is dedicated to driving innovation in robotics and human-robot interaction through cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our lab focuses on developing state-of-the-art robotic systems for real-world applications, applying advanced technologies such as augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics automation to address contemporary challenges.

Empowering Robotics for a Better Future

Our Research Focus

The Advanced Robotics and Technology (ART) Lab at Bowling Green State University explores the intersection of robotics design, human-in-the-loop systems, and extended reality (XR) technologies. Our work focuses on developing intelligent robotic systems that can collaborate seamlessly with humans across manufacturing, healthcare, and education.

We integrate AR/VR-based control interfaces and machine learning-driven perception models to enhance situational awareness, adaptability, and autonomy in real-world applications. Our lab's interdisciplinary approach bridges mechanical design, embedded control, and cognitive interaction to push the boundaries of how humans and machines work together.

Featured Project: XR-Assisted Robotic Teleoperation

This project investigates the use of augmented reality (AR) interfaces for intuitive teleoperation of robotic manipulators. By combining spatial visualization, haptic feedback, and computer vision, we aim to enable operators to perform complex manipulation tasks remotely with precision and confidence. The system leverages Unity and ARCore for real-time scene reconstruction and ROS for robot communication.
